Paul Harrison’s new band, Team Talk brings together two generations of outstanding Scottish jazz talent. Alongside Paul, with the Hammond B-3 sounds that he is passionate about, are Scotland’s – and arguably the UK’s – top drummer, Alyn Cosker, and one of the freshest, most exciting saxophonists to emerge in recent times, altoist Norman Willmore.
Paul’s knowledge of the jazz canon has been rewarded with the Best Pianist title at the Scottish Jazz Awards and seen him playing concerts with sax legend Dave Liebman at the heart of the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra. He is a master of the organ trio and his ability to create original sounds has been a highlight of bands including Trianglehead and his own, sonically adventurous Sugarwork.
As well as being the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra’s resident drummer, Alyn leads his own exciting band and has worked with LA session master, guitarist Larry Carlton, Brian Kellock, Kevin Mackenzie and Paul Towndrow. Shetland-born Norman made a great impression with his debut album, Alive and Well at the Muckle Roe Hall, receiving radio plays and ringing endorsements from Canada to Australia; his recent Celtic Connections performance was highly-praised.
Playing music specially composed for these personnel, Team Talk promises a session full of skill, imagination and finely honed teamwork.
