Folk fusion duo Anna (Violin, Guitar, Voice) and Auriel (Harp) met in 2019 at the scenic Snape Maltings in Suffolk. Whilst studying at the junior programme, Aldeburgh Young Musicians, the pair discovered their joint love of music from the British Isles. Combining this love of folk with more contemporary sounds, the duo have created a captivating tapestry of styles – with elements of jazz, film and classical music. Whilst the duo enjoy arranging traditional tunes alongside well-known pieces, their favourite way to collaborate is through composing original material. This really showcases the artistic synergy between the two, blending their inspirations into unique and captivating narratives.
Outside of their home rehearsals in sunny Suffolk, on stage, much like the branches of a twisted willow tree, they work to intertwine the heritage of folk with their own artistic vision. As well as symbolising the cross pollination of genres featured in their music, the tree is a perfect metaphor for their growth together as musicians.
Genre: Contemporary folk
