What began as an intimate solo project has advanced into an impressive 5-piece band arrangement, consisting of; Woody Green (Vocals, Guitar, Percussion), Graham Nunn (Guitar, Backing Vocals), Nina Winder-Lind (Cello, Percussion), Toma Sapir (Drums, Percussion), Todd Cowell (Bass, Backing Vocals). Influenced by the experimentation of acid-folk artists like Mark Fry and Donovan, blended with lyrical and stylised influence from Leonard Cohen. Yet, simultaneously inspired by the showmanship and raw vigour of The Velvet Underground & Lou Reed, Woody Green & his band find themselves
poised perfectly and uniquely in their own space. Woody Green leads us in to a meadow of unique
pastoral psych-folk with his latest self titled release. A distinctive piece, navigating between dream and reality, taking influence from childhood memories of the Irish countryside, Tarot in ‘The Empress’ and the art of our connection to nature. Woody paints a vivid picture with his lyrics, leaving no stone unturned where the senses are concerned. Poignant and poetic with intricate fingerpicking, creating a charming space of timeless simplicity, a magical psychedelic folk elegance with a distinct nostalgic sound. Formerly the bassist of the Brighton jazz-psych group Wax Machine, and having self released his first solo EP ´Alchemy´ back in 2019, Woody explores further and greater with his new release. The self titled album recorded in Amsterdam was produced by Go Kurosawa of Kikagaku Moyo and was mixed/mastered by Yui Kimijima in Tokyo. This out of the ordinary and rare meeting of worlds leads to an altogether unique album, a moment in history, one we will probably never see again.
