My Girl The River feature songs written by American singer/songwriter Kris Wilkinson Hughes and performed by the whole family, husband Joe on bass and daughter Ruby on ukulele and vocals. Together they make a beautiful blend of Americana, roots, folk, country and even a taste of pop/rock.
Their previous venture, Cicero Buck, caught the ear of many a fan including top reviews in Uncut and airplay on Bob Harris’ show. My Girl The River have performed at the Isle of Wight festival and toured with Laura Cantrell and Suzanne Vega. They have released two albums, debut ‘This Ain’t No Fairytale’ and the latest ‘Cardinal in the Snow’ which has been played on Ricky Ross’ show on BBC Scotland and Ralph McClean’s show on BBC Ulster, as well as many other radio programmes across the UK, Europe, USA and Australia.
The reviews have come in thick and fast. Comparing the vocals to that of Joni Mitchell, Brandi Carlile, kd lang, and songwriting on a par with Jason Isbell and Lucinda Williams. This last album was produced by award winning producer Neilson Hubbard and features Will Kimbrough on guitar and Kristin Wilkinson on strings.
