Artist description:Olayá are a new female-led flute and percussion band inspired by Northeastern Brazilian bandas de pifanos (bamboo flutes), with the elemental force of flutes, vocal harmonies, percussion and bass. Olayá’s music is heavily rhythmic and contagiously fun, with quirky arrangements of traditional Brazilian tunes plus original compositions. After selling out their first London debut gig in May 2023, they have performed at London’s Morocco Bound and Post Bar and at festivals such as Leeds Summer Concert Series, Basket of Light and Jam in a Round.
