A Piano-Guitar-Vocal-Kazoo-Stompbox Duo steeped in the Barrelhouse Boogie Blues House Party tradition of 1930’s downtown Chicago, Booga Red take you back in time, playing the songs of the early blues pioneers; Big Bill Broonzy, Tampa Red, Big Joe Turner; raggedy boogie woogie piano, riotous vocal and kazoo; rollicking blues guitar; music for dancing, drinking and making merry.
With outrageously authentic examples of fingerpickin’ guitar and honky tonk piano, Booga Red pay homage to the original innovators, and continue their legacy with new songs. Bringing their own big sound to the old blues and boogie that contained the exciting early sparks that fizzled and crackled and finally exploded, this is the Blues Roots of Rock’nRoll!
Steve has, throughout a 30-year professional performing career, always maintained a passion for the delta and Chicago blues of the 1920/30s. His driving guitar and vocal style echo that of the great Big Bill Broonzy.
Claire has spent over 20 years playing on the Jump Jive and Rock’n’Roll circuits, performing all over the UK and Europe. The influence of the 50’s R’n’R piano legends has lead her back to explore the origins of their music; 1930’s boogie woogie and blues.
