Artist description:Shorelark is a young folk duo comprising singer-songwriter and guitarist Georgia Morgan Turner, and recorder player and English folk multi-instrumentalist Finn Collinson. Since beginning to work together in 2014, the duo have developed a unique take on English folk music, taking inspiration from genres as diverse as Brazilian traditional music, bluegrass and Baroque recorder works. Shorelark’s distinctive blend of traditional, contemporary and original songs and tunes has attracted interest from folk clubs and festivals across the country and has led to airplay in the UK and US. They were also finalists in the prestigious New Roots competition in 2016. Despite their youth, the duo are experienced beyond their years and between them have enjoyed solo performances at the Barbican Centre (Georgia) and Cadogan Hall, London (Finn). They also have a wealth of collaborative credentials, thanks primarily to their involvement in the Aldeburgh Young Musicians scheme in Suffolk. In Autumn 2015, Shorelark released their first EP, entitled Longwayes For Six. The EP features four studio recordings and one track recorded live at Cecil Sharp House in London, and is available on CD/DL from http://shorelark.bandcamp.com. Combining first-rate musicianship with a lively stage presence and a passion for musical storytelling, Shorelark are fast becoming an established ensemble on the folk scene. “The very best of the next generation in trad folk music in the UK” – Stephen Thomas, Folkroom Records “The future of folk is in safe hands” – Roger Pettit, Felixstowe Radio “Very creative… they make the music their own” – Chris Leslie, Fairport Convention Photo © Tony Bell Photogaphy
