Ladies and Gentlemen, The John Langan Band have TWO brand new CD´s for you!

Since they released Bones of Contention a couple of years ago, ("Voluptuously proportioned and an infectious disregard for musical convention" - Folk Radio UK, "****" R2 Magazine), they have been rather busy! However, somewhere between two busy festival seasons, numerous tours, John having a baby, Ali writing film music for Hollywood, and Dave starting about eight new bands, they´ve managed to put together not one but two fantastic CD´s of music for your ears!

The EP

The EP, entitled I´m Alive. This consists of five new tracks that they have slowly been integrating into our set for the past year or so. The title comes from the track I´m Alive Mamma that has been one of the spearhead tracks of their live set for a while now. You can find a video of the track here - filmed by the wonderful people at the Arena Sessions.

They also have two new original tracks, Old Tom´s  Waltz  and The Little Man - both of these are taken from tunes that JLB fiddler Alastair Caplin wrote, along with words and music from John, and mind-blowingly diverse arrangements and grooves from Bassist Dave Tunstall. 

Finally, they have two completely unique arrangements of traditional Romany Gypsy songs, Djelem Djelem and Amarisi Amari. John picked up these songs while he and his wife Emily were travelling around Eastern Europe. The boys have taken these gypsy anthems and given them a heavy dose of JLB madness and punch, creating two massively powerful and evocative tracks for musicians and music-lovers around the globe.

The EP was recorded at DADA studios in London by George Botis and Alex Miaris, mastered by Garry Boyle.

Live at The Globe

Last November JLB had the privilege to play at The Sam Wanamaker Theatre at Shakespeare´s Globe. They played two sets to a packed house full of your smiling faces! They were lucky enough to have the amazing Matthew Organ doing our live sound, and also the extremely talented Tansay Omar recording every note that they played! They were also blessed to have Annie Klein from New Horizon Media filming the whole gig - you can see the resulting video of The Winter Song here.

JLB fiddler Ali mixed the recordings from the gig, again mastered by Garry Boyle, into a 70 minute 8 track album. The tracks are a mix of songs from our previous album Bones of Contention and new songs. 

The recordings on this album are completely infused with the wonderfully electric energy that the band received from the audience, and though you may recognise the songs, you won´t have heard them like this before! 

A unique double CD

They have decided to release these two CD´s as a double CD featuring original artwork from Glen Leslie who has designed their posters and website for the last 18 months, and photos of their gig at The Globe courtesy once again of Annie Klein. 

THE RELEASE

The John Langan Band are doing two releases of this double album in two fantastic venues - in The Islington Assembly Rooms in London on the 8th May, and in the newly rebuilt Art School in Glasgow on the 15th May. For both these events they´ll have the very cream of the current folk scene supporting us (Phillip Henry & Hannah Martin, Dallahan, Ross Ainslie & Jarleth Henderson, DJ Dolphin Boy) and they are guaranteed to be phenomenally entertaining nights!

Both releases are recorded, mixed and mastered and are ready to go straight to get pressed! To make this happen, they are inviting you all to preorder your copies! They will be available for you on the Launch dates of the albums.
