Rhythm and Blues

What is Rhythm and Blues?

Rhythm and blues, often known as R&B or RnB, is a genre of popular African-American music that originated back in 1940s. Record companies coined the phrase to describe recordings marketed predominantly to urban African Americans. The African American neighbourhoods were listening and pioneering and urbane, rocking, jazz based music with a heavy insistent beat and it was becoming more popular with the majorities of America thanks to its widepsread radio play, good and bad publicity alike.

R&B lyrical themes and lyrics often focus heavily on the themes of triumphs and failures in terms of relationships, freedom, economics, aspirations, and sex.
