Mario Caribe is one of the jewels of the Scottish music scene, a superb bassist, a fine acoustic guitarist, a master of the cavaquinho (Brazil´s small cousin of the guitar), a good singer and a talented composer. He also has the vast Brazilian repertoire of songs and rhythms at his fingertips.
A regular participant in the award-winning Playtime sessions, as well as leading his own groups, he has also worked with the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, saxophonist Brian Molley, Moishe´s Bagel, Venezuelan pianist Leo Blanco, New Focus and the group formed to honour Brazilian genius-composer Egberto Gismonti, Trio Magico.
Here, Caribe leads his own trio featuring saxophone and percussion alongside his bass and cavaquinho, to celebrate his homeland´s rich musical culture with joy and irresistible rhythms.
