Milton of Campsie Village Hall
The Hall was built in 1873 following donations of land and funds from local families.
It was run by a local trust until 1971 when it moved to the management of Stirling Council.
It continued in local authority hands until East Dunbartonshire Council closed it on Monday 22nd March 2004.
The value of the Hall to the local community was clear from the strength of feeling at the possible loss of it. Public Meetings were very well attended by Villagers to discuss the best way of protesting against the closure. Eventually the Council handed the Hall over in October 2004 to a specially created Village Hall Trust including representatives of the Stirling family who had donated land in 1873.
