The State Bar

Once upon a time long ago there were only two comedy clubs in Glasgow, one at Blackfriars in the merchant city and the other in The State Bar off Sauchiehall Street.
Then the bigger boys arrived and Blackfriars disappeared and the State Bar Comedy Club fizzled and nearly died… Along came Billy Kirkwood and Chris ‘The Ram’ Broomfield. They blew gently on the fizzing embers until they got a flame, then they fanned the flame until they had an audience then they heaped comedians on the flame until they had a show.
Now, like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, Comedy At The State has a show every Saturday night. Showcasing local newcomers and established headliners in an almost jazz club atmosphere, and aiming to provide quality comedy in the most warmest, cosiest, and most intimate surroundings of any comedy club in the UK.
