All Our UK Gigs
EFDSS Black British Folk Takeover

This hybrid gig is being livestreamed in partnership with our friends at EFDSS. Tickets to watch it in person at Cecil Sharp House are available at https://www.efdss.org/whats-on/26-gigs/16001-black-british-folk-takeover-2026.
We’re delighted to be livestreaming the English Folk Dance and Song Society’s (EFDSS) and The Black British Folk Collective’s Black British Folk Takeover on Saturday 17 October.
Curated by multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Angeline Morrison, this all-day event celebrates the joy, warmth, and love of Black British folk, with artists including:
Andrew Baird
Hamilton Gross
Daudi Matsiko
Island Girl
Linett Kamala (in conversation)
… Plus a very special guest to be announced
Enjoy traditional folk songs, workshops, folk clubs, live conversation, and a traditional Jamaican maypole dance!
What to expect: We really enjoyed this event last year, and we’re so excited that it’s returned for 2026.
This will be a beautiful love letter to Black folk music, with songs, stories, and conversations that shine a light on this captivating and historically profound genre of music.

ABOUT THE GIG
This event will be held live on Zoom, with a remote sound engineer for high-quality sound. Our gigs allow interaction between artists and audiences, so the artist can hear you applaud and you can even have the chance to ask them any burning questions.
Tickets are £18, with the option to pay a bit less (£12) or a bit more (£30) depending on what is affordable for you. You only need one ticket per household.
