Controlled Burn is the latest album from fok-duo Arthur Coates & Kerran Cotterell. The latest release is founded upon the duo´s self-penned concept - ‘Big Bass Stuff’, which has further defined their sound and led to their most ambitious and progressive album to date.

The album is filled with hypnotic grooves and folk-inspired fiddle melodies performed with both supple dexterity and fierce grit. They seamlessly blend original compositions as well as traditional melodies taking influences from both sides of the Atlantic, always retaining their unique powerful voice, and delivered with expert precision.

The track ‘Big Bass Stuff’ certainly defines their latest sound and is so rich and groove-driven that it´s hard to believe they are primarily a duo. However, the band still manages to showcase their versatility as musicians with more reflective and tender vocal led songs such as ‘The Evening’s Gone’ and ‘O Sister Moon’. These softer, more sentimental song choices help to give the album dynamic and energetic variation which takes the listener on a full-spectrum emotional journey.

The album features several guest artists who all bring their own voice to the album, without ever encroaching on the duo´s distinct sound. The duo were also winners of the 2025 Robinson Emerging Artcase Showcase and It will not be surprising if they are soon to receive more award nominations for this latest release.
